CPRC AGENDA MEETING July 12th 6PM COMMUNITY POLICE REVIEW COMMISSION (CPRC) Regular Monthly Meeting July 12th, 2021 6:00 p.m. CST Members of the public are welcome to join this meeting. To join, click the zoom link and it will open the Zoom meeting. If you don't already have Zoom installed on your device, you may want to join early to get set up. You will be asked to enter a passcode, which is CPRC. PUBLIC COMMENT Public comment will be allowed via Zoom. All speakers must register 48 hours in advance (July 8th, 2021 by Noon). All public comment will occur at the end of the meeting. To speak remotely at the Community Police Review Commission, residents must: Email or call the CPRC at CPRC@austintexas.gov or (512) 974-9000. The information required is the speaker name, contact information, and the agenda item(s) they wish to speak on. The public meeting of the Community Police Review Commission will be held virtually on Zoom at 6:00pm. The following is the agenda: CALL TO ORDER 1. NEW BUSINESS a. Racial Equity Recommendations b. 8 Can’t Wait Town Hall Recommendations c. CPRC Fall Schedule Updates 2. STAFF BRIEFINGS a. OPO Annual Report 3. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS a. Discussion on improvements and practices concerning APD 4. PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS 1, 2, AND 3 ADJOURNMENT Complainants/members of the community may address the Community Police Review Commission about the above items. If you wish to address the Community Police Review Commission, please sign up 48 hours in advance of the public session. Learn about the Community Police Review Commission and how you can get involved in improving policing in Austin visit ATXpolicecommission.org COMMISSION MEMBERS Jessica Gonzales Bricker Elizabeth Castaneda Joao Paulo Connolly Tania Rosamond Erica Flores Amani Seay Ryan Carlino Grayson Turner Sukyi McMahon The Community Police Review Commission consists of 10 unpaid volunteers appointed by the city manager to: • Make policy-level recommendations regarding discipline, training, community relations, and the complaint process. • Address any other issues of concern by the community. • Review patterns and practices of the Austin Police Department. • Assess critical incidents and review individual cases of police misconduct. • Make fair and objective recommendations, and make decisions based only on the facts and evidence. • Assess the effectiveness of the Office of Police Oversight.
