CPRC AGENDA MEETING September 13 6PM COMMUNITY POLICE REVIEW COMMISSION (CPRC) Regular Meeting September 13, 2021 6:00 p.m. CST Members of the public are welcome to join this meeting. To join, click the Zoom link and enter the password: CPRC. If you don't already have Zoom installed on your device, you may want to join early to get set up. PUBLIC COMMENT Public comment will be allowed via Zoom. All public comment will occur at the end of the meeting. To speak remotely at the Community Police Review Commission, residents must sign up 48 hours in advance. Residents may sign up by email: CPRC@austintexas.gov or phone: 512-974-9000. The information required is the speaker name, contact information, and the agenda item(s) they wish to speak on. The public meeting of the Community Police Review Commission will be held virtually on Zoom at 6:00pm. PRIVATE SESSION (No public participation in private sessions.) The Commission will meet in a private session prior to launching the public session in order to receive a Private Case Briefing, as defined in Article 16 of the 2018 Agreement between the City of Austin and the Austin Police Association. The public session will commence at 6 p.m. and will adjourn once commentary from registered speakers is completed. After receiving public input, the Commission will return to private session to discuss and deliberate the particular case under review. AGENDA CALL TO ORDER 1. NEW BUSINESS a. Review Critical Incident Case: 2021-0296 2. PUBLIC COMMENT ADJOURNMENT The City of Austin is committed to compliance with the American Disabilities Act. Reasonable modifications and equal access to communications will be provided upon request. If requiring Sign Language Interpreters or alternative formats, please give notice at least 2 days before the meeting date. COMMISSION MEMBERS Jessica Gonzales Bricker Elizabeth Castaneda Joao Paulo Connolly Tania Rosamond Erica Flores Amani Seay Ryan Carlino Grayson Turner Sukyi McMahon The Community Police Review Commission consists of 10 unpaid volunteers appointed by the city manager to: • Make policy-level recommendations regarding discipline, training, community relations, and the complaint process. • Address any other issues of concern by the community. • Review patterns and practices of the Austin Police Department. • Assess critical incidents and review individual cases of police misconduct. • Make fair and objective recommendations, and make decisions based only on the facts and evidence. • Assess the effectiveness of the Office of Police Oversight.
